Fit 4 School

This year the 10th annual Fit 4 School event was held at the Aiken Family Y on August 8th. The mission of this program is to provide school supplies, vision and hearing screens, and haircuts to the less fortunate K-12 students in the Aiken area. This year PEP partnered in support of this program not only through a donation toward supplies, but also in our focus of Early Learning. In partnership with the Kisner Foundation’s Tee Up to Read program, PEP was able to distribute forms for FREE books along with pre-addressed, stamped envelopes to the first 200 participating families with children ages 0-4. This form allows up to 3 children from the home to receive a FREE age appropriate book every month from age 0 – 5yrs. In addition, all families were encouraged to talk, sing and read to their young children to increase their vocabulary and best prepare them to be ready to start school.
